Ive got my snares and ready to set them and got to wondering if my lifetime hunting license covered trapping? Im snaring my own land too. I couldnt find anything on the net about lifetime license covering trapping. Anyone know if i need to buy a trapping license? h.h.

You can trap and snare on your own land without a license. Your lifetime hunting license does not cover trapping.

. You might need a license if you intend to sell the furs. I was tempted to get the lifetime trapping license when I got my lifetime comprehensive hunt/fish license, but didn't have the $$. I've only set steel for one season since. From the DNR on-line guide: "Landowners may take coyotes at any time on the land they own or provide written permission for others to take coyotes on their land at any time, without a permit. Coyotes that are taken outside the hunting and trapping season by a landowner or someone with written permission from a land owner cannot be possessed live for more than 24 hours, and the live coyote cannot be sold, traded, bartered or gifted."

Set 4 snares yesterday and caught a nice 35 lb male today. He was still alive and really P.O. after a while he calmed down and a well placed .22 LR did him in. One set was knocked down by deer but the others were still hunting. h.h.
