After much thought, consideration, and advice from others to "use whatcha got", I've settled on my yote gun. Many moons ago, I posted in the firearms section that my Father-in-law had given me a 1968 Winchester 88 in .308, a pretty neat ole lever/bolt action. And so I opted to turn this into my yote/varmint gun for now. I topped her with a Redfield Revolution, 4-12x40, Accu-Range and some other goodies (including a trigger job by Scroggins). The barrel on this gun is only 19 inches so I wasn't expecting it to be a tack driver, but I am surprised at how well it is shooting. Layed out and ready to go! Shots 4 and 5 were the final after adjustment at 100 yds (shows a lil high because Accu-Range scope is set for 200 yds center and I'm not totally confident on the stick yet). I'm still researching the ballistics on the ammo as I'm currently shooting 125 gr Spitzers, 46 gr Accurate 2230. I was told I'm probably 2700+ fps muzzle. If anybody has more info from their charts, I'd love to know more.

Larry, I'd guess you are above 2700 fps. Take a look at page 17: www.accuratepowder.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/accurate_load_data_3.5.pdfFor a 125 gr Nosler ballistic tip, accurate is listing a max load of 2230 at 46 gr at a speed of 3,120 fps with a 24" barrel. 50 fps loss per inch of barrel is probably on the way high end. 3,120-250= 2870 fps. A BT isn't what you are using, but it's close. Bearing surface of the bullet will impact muzzle velocity, but I'm betting you are still at or above 2800 fps. That's my guess. Someone else may have better data though.

Thanks Dan. That's good information. I don't reload and I'm not a ballistics guru so I appreciate the insight.
