Up to now ... these where my favorite jack rabbit pictures that I've taken in the field ...
Today myself , Greylag and his neighbor Joe headed out into the blizzard to get some walking time in ... exercise our dogs and seek out some Jack rabbits ... here are some pictures from today .... very foggy due to the wind and snow , but still pretty cool ...
You can see how visability was from this picture .... hard to get crisp pictures with that wind and snow , but they still turned out OK .
We saw some young turkeys in the distance at the 1st farm we stopped at ...
I got a couple of pictures closer up before they flew off ...
We concentrated on the fence lines ... Greylag works along in the blowing snow ...
We were not the only hunter's out ...
Greylag carried a .222 for the long shots .... Joe a 12 gauge and I had a 20 gauge for camera back up in case I got charged by a wild Jack rabbit !
Well we ended up moving this one between us .... He busted from the base of a fence post .... only to stop about 40 yards out and stand up to assess the situation ....
He headed towards Greylag and Joe so I yelled out " in coming " and watched him run towards the North East fence row ..... Joe moved into position across from me ....
Next thing I know he is back at me ... I went for the camera as he passed at approx 20 yards ... got some cool frames of him going by ...
Then he turns and heads towards Joe ... perfect !
He crosses in front of Joe , but out of range for his 12 gauge ...
Then he stops by Joe and looks around again ... finds a safe exit between the 3 of us and he is gone ... ( cool frame with hunter at right and jack rabbit stopped standing up at left )
I know , I know ... I should have shot  But I was hoping to get a frame of him getting bowled over by one of the other guys
We ended the afternoon ... in a woodlot ... Greylag moved 2 jacks and I tracked one to it's bed ( same as 1st picture in this thread ) ... only to get pictures of the tracks , bed , and tracks across the field for my efforts ... still great to be outdoors for the afternoon !
