Well with m. loader season coming to a close. Will be out this weekend to freshen mineral lick's back up, pull a few stand's and set up corn feeding station. Making plan's for expanding food plot's with an additional 3 to 4 acre's of corn for next year also. Saw alot of 2.5 and 3.5 year olds last week so future look's bright .

I've got my buck and our doe population in my area has been destroyed last few year's so not gonna shoot anymore this season. My farm is now a safe haven for any deer that want's to use it.

Plowed 5 acre's of sod today, this weather has been great. Have a 2 acre imperial whitetail clover plot and am gonna plant 5 acre's of alfalfa right next to it along with another 2 acre's of field corn. Gonna try to give the deer everything they want this year.

I have the landowners permission to add at least 2 acres of food plots.
Now I need to start looking for a 3 point 80" or narrower disc.

Thanks. Versailles is probably a good 4 hr. one way for me. I looked on Fastline. com and will keep looking for something closer. One property is about 15 miles away. A little bit far to drive the tractor, but I can throw it on the trailer and get it there that way. Without a 3-point, its hard on the trailer dragging discs on it. I've seen the narrower ones, just gotta be patient. I picked up an older 4 gang disc that's 7' wide, but it's not a 3 point. I thought it was narrower, and assumed it was a 3-point type, but committed to buy it before measuring. That'll go on the selling block before long. It's a pull behind type, it's too wide for my trailer. Both of those sections hook together, one in front of the other.

Go to auction zip and put in your zip code. It will give you any auction in your area. That's your best bet. (I see them all them time.) Most sell for 200 to 400 range depending on condition. I picked mine up, a 7 ft for 100 buck's. All it needed was some grease and 4 blades I even put a coat of paint on it. Look's like new. It's good for tuff to get into area's for sure. Also have a 12' wheel disk for the open area's which I really like. Gave 250 for it and spent another 300 for new tire's , hose's, paint and a couple broken blades. I love it.

Yea they are popular. (But i love mine.) They are just built a lot heavier so they cut through the ground so much easier. Go to the auctionzip website. Usually about march the farm sales start showing up. I check weekly I'd like to find a medium size pull type sprayer with boom's and a decent 4 row planter.

I got a 250 gallon sprayer that has booms and I also put on an orchard spray head so I can get into tight places. I had to add an on/off valve and hose for it. The head sprays 360 degrees out to 30 ft. Out in the open I use the booms, in heavier cover I use the orchard head. h.h.

Plowed about 5 acre's last couple day's for a new alfalfa field. (Will serve two purpose's.) Will be harvesting hay off of and the deer should love it for a summer protein food source. Planting it next to a 2 acre imperial whitetail food plot so the deer can have alittle variety. Also plowed up a couple acre's i'm going to plant to corn and just leave for the deer for a late season food source. Warm temp's are giving me a little of the spring fever.

Dang you bc, I've been reading all the posts on where I should hunt, what I should and shouldn't kill, how many does, what size buck etc. Some fussing that the other hunter was just jealous and all that time, I got mad a few times, but never jealous of what other hunters shoot. Now you come along & say you have already started on your 2012 food plots! NOW I'm jealous lol! I checked my food plot fields around the same time but still too wet.

I've been cutting trees down for the past couple of weeks. Got to take back some of the 10 ac field. After the bigger trees are down, then I'll rent a tracked bobcat with a forestry head to chew up the stumps and smaller trees.
Going to try some Alamo switchgrass and some Cave-in-Rock for a visual screen.
Alfa Rack, Eagle seed soybeans, and about a 20' wide path of corn to round out the plot in the field, and some brassicas in another 1/4 ac plot.

Any idea how much the rental of a bobcat with the forestry head is?

daneowner i feel ya. Soil i'm turning is sod and is on a ridgetop and it's actually really dry for this time of year. I'm hoping it stay's dry now as i'd like to be able to get my lime spread out and time to disolved into soil before final tilling and seed planted. Hoping again to plant alfalfa first week in may. I definitely got the spring fever.

BC, I mainly go with clover mix with a small amount of alfalfa thrown in. My ph just isn't high enough for alfalfa yet. I do have one field that I put another 3 ton acre of lime on last fall, haven't test it yet, if the ph is around the 6.5 mark I'm going to try alfalfa once again. Hard for me to believe how much lime it takes to move the ph.
