I fry all my Greys but this works great with the tougher reds. Throw 3-4 reds in a croc-pot and let em cook over night. Pull the meat off the bone. Kinda brown the squirrels and onion in a large pot with some olive oil. Then add chicken broth and celery and bring to a boil. Throw in some frozen dumplins, carrots, peas, and whatever else you want and let it cook up. Heck of a meal and only takes 30-40 mins. Great way to eat up a tough red squirrel. Croc-pot makes the meat fall off the bone!

Have you ever tried pressure cooking the squirrels? Especially the older ones. Falls off the bone!!!

Yes I have. Cooking them slow in the croc-pot does the same thing though. I usually throw em in there before I go to bed and they're ready to go the next morning. It's a good way to make BBQ too.

Thanks Tobias, soon I'm going to knock some fox squirrels down with my pellet rifle and give your recipe a try. Hope it's as good as you say...sounds good anyway!
