This year was my best archery season ever. A few years I've taken four deer during early archery season, but I took six this year (P&Y buck and five does.) I've seen quite a few deer this year (probably above-normal sightings), including one group of 15. That's pretty good, considering there are no crops or food plots where I hunt. Quite a few 120-class bucks on camera this year, so I'm hopeful for a good season next year as well.

I saw two bucks during archery season but nothing during firearms season. The only does were three that I bumped walking to one of my stands about an hour before legal shooting time, and that was back in early archery. My buddy saw a huge 10 ptr during early archery and he had a small 4 ptr at 12 yards opening day of firearms. At this time last year we had 3 does in the freezer and I killed a fourth during ml season. Our deer count is way down compared to the last 2 - 3 years. Not sure why but it has been frustrating. We'll be back at it during ml season.

During early archery and modern gun season I have seen 2 deer both bucks. Sat until 10 Thanksging morning and did not hear a single shot. This has never happened in nearly 40 years of deer hunting this property. I have hunted longer and harder than I ever have so it is not for lack of trying.

Hunted 4 days before i shot my buck. Saw a different basket racket every hunt, and did not see a doe on any of the hunts.

Very few sightings in Indiana. No does and only 1 Buck on my private property and 1 spike a Big Oaks for archery. Gun season was a bust until the 18th when we got the 2 day cold snap. Seen 7 bucks and 2 does that morning and shot my 9 point and a doe at Big Oaks the next morning. Its even odd ay my Dads place this year. Usually a haven for does and I've only seen 3. Shot one of them. Not even getting many pics. Hopefully Muzzy season is better. In Ohio I've hunted 3 times and seen 16 but its a urban spot and loaded with deer. Its just been an overall weird season.

dont know where everyone hunted opening weekend but when you have 40 to 50 mph winds and a weather system moving in combined with warm weather makes it hard on the deer movement. wind was laid down just a tad on the second weekend and rain all the last weekend. deer are still there if you can beat the weather. loads of giant bucks being killed in indiana and ky this year. most of the deer we have been seeing are in the middle of the day when most hunters are out of their stands..

Bow season,i saw several bucks, but only 4 shooters,I saw around 20 different bucks. I'm retired so I hunted almost every day, morning and evening. Had a rough start as new hunters moved into the area we have been hunting the last 14 years. What I thought would be an easy year to harvest the deer turned out to be a nightmare. People setting up right beside me on a few occassions, walking in through their bedding and feeding areas. Riding 4 wheelers. Didnt take but a couple days for them to change patterns. 2nd week of archery I saw the buck I was after, but there was a cedar tree between me and him and I didnt want to take a risky shot. Never saw him again. Saw several basket racked bucks and had a nice tall tined 8 followed by the 10 I ended up harvesting come in at 10 yds last week of archery. Also had a shot at a real nice chocolite racked 10 come in to a can call Thursday before gun season. It was thick in the cedar thicket I went to and hit a branch. The only nice deer I saw this year were always in heavy cover ,even during archery. The wind was really screwy this year. I think we only had a hand full of days, I would concider calm. When the wind hits you in the face one minute and your back the next, you can pretty well count on not seeing any mature bucks,in shooting range. Over all it was a good season, even though I didnt take the deer I was after.

Laporte county deer numbers are way down both buck and doe. To many years of 8 deer quota and a bout of blue tongue have taken their toll.

Its kind of hard for me to answer. we only made 1 trip to Ohio Cty. where we usually make 5 or 6 a year. My son and I came up with 2 new places to hunt within 20 miles of the house and thats where we spent most of this year so far. We actually hunted more this year by staying closer to home. The trip we did make down south was during bow season and we both saw shooter bucks but our doe sightings were down. We both have seen shooter bucks at our new places but that was during bow season and they were out of range. Gun season and the screwy weather came in and we harvested some does but still havnt seen the bucks we are looking for.

For me, it was the worst hunting I have ever seen. Overall numbers were down significantly and I haven't seen a shooter buck yet. Talked to the local DNR and the harvest during gun season at my local public area was just over half of the harvest last year. I have seen pictures of nices bucks taken locally, just haven't had any encounters myself.

I have seen a lot of deer. And a lot of bucks. I did not bow hunt. I have passed on 7 bucks so far. Mostly small, but one VERY nice one, but I took a 212 lb, 8 point with 21" inside spread earlier in the day. I have taken 2 does, and a small buck at Newport. ![](http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt82/Jabba_lowe/100_3888.jpg) Overall I'd say that the numbers where I do most of my hunting have rebounded over the last 5-6 years. I believe most of the hunters here hunt way more than just gun season most have had at least 1.5 months or more in the woods thus far not just a couple of weekends .I dont think many are making thier sudgment on just a few week or weekend time span .Just saying .

So far almost 60% of the hunters say they are seeing less deer. Time to back off the permits DNR. Our resources are being depleated.
