Has anyone ever bird hunted at either of these preserves? I hunted at Sugar Creek about 8 years ago. Had a good experenice but was wondering if anyone has been there lately and your opinion.
My son and I hope to go bird hunting soon and these 2 are fairly close (about 1 hour drive) and seem to have good reputations. We will need a guide and dog from where ever we choose.
Any advice or info would be greately appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help

I've hunted Sugar Creek before. Nice place but it's been a while. Never hurts to try someplace new. Good luck

I have been to lost river. Shot quail and they did not fly very well. Going to sugar creek next week. I will report back.

Been to both, and both were good. People at sugar creek seemed a bit more customer service oriented. Early season, neither has strong flyers, but later on in the winter, I think that lost river has better birds.

Went to sugar creek this morning they have good cover and larger fields than most. We shot pheasants and they flew well. Very friendly people. 2 guns one 20 and one 12 both with 6 shot. We took my dog so I can't tell you anything about what kind of dogs they have. But I did ask and they do have dogs.

Thanks for the Info. The last time I went to Sugar Creek the guide had a great dog. I would assume (hope) they both got good dogs.
Maybe I get lucky and get to try both out this season.
Thanks again for letting me know your experenice.

A little pricey for me if its the one I'm thinking of. Clover Creek is more in line with a working mans budget and they treat you right. About 20 minutes from the Cannelton bridge.

Oh I am sure its the one you thinking of. Yes I could never afford it on my own with out mortaging the house lol. But the company I work for the owner is a BIG time upland game hunter and that is one of the perks he does for us. I not been there in few years but planning on going late Jan early Feb for a hunt.
