For the past few mornings I have had hundreds of either worms or caterpillars crawling around on the concrete porch and concrete garage apron. They are all about 1/2" long and about half as thick as a the lead in a #2 pencil. They are also hard skinned. They appear during the night time and seem to be pretty resistant to bug spray. Oh, and when you touch them they curl into a circle. ANY IDEAS?

Sorry I cannot post a picture however I forgot to mention they are a dark brown in color. They kind of resemble a miniature centipede.

I think Tickman might be on to something. I don't have a lot of knowledge with that kind of critter.

I believe that is my critter. We have had a lot of overcast and damp weather the past week or so and they appear after dark. I put down some spray along the door sills and it appears to kill them. I wonder how long they will continue coming?

I do know that toads and frogs will eat them ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I don't think they do any real damage to anything and so would be leery off using chemicals to just kill them for no reason...kind of like pillbugs-they eat decaying things and help mother nature break down stuff. I'm assuming you are seeing them more because of the damp weather we've having.

Tickman: you were correct, I looked up Millepeds on the computer and yes that is what I have. Dadsr: you too are also correct in telling me not to waste a lot of time and money treating the area as it appears they are harmless and with dryer weather expected might move on to other places. Thank you both!

The problem has gotten worse with me sweeping hundreds of them out of my garages each morning, so I contacted a retired state of Indiana Entomologist and asked for advise. He advised me to apply sevin in powder form around my home approx. 20' the foundation. This will allow most of them to die before they reach my home.
