I just returned from Marble Head area fishing trip. We fished Friday and filled our 5 man limit of Walleyes, total weight 107 lbs. Fishing is still a running a week or two behind schedule and the White Bass have not yet moved in shallows. There were more boats out on Friday then I have ever seen.

We were up Saturday, we didnt get our limit we only caught 15. BUT one of my buddies caught a 31.5 inch 10.25 lb walleye. Needless to say it is still in Marblehead at the taxidermist. I caught 3 all were over 5lbs with one being 6 almost 7. The sheephead were horrible and the fishing just stopped around noon but we still had a 60lb cooler.

arsnider1: we fished west of the islands out front of the cooling tower, we had fast action right off the bat then it slowed till about 11:00. Action was fast again till 1:00 then it was GOAT HEAVEN with one sheep head after another, we probably caught 20-25 until around 4:00 and then we finished with the last 2 eyes we needed. The information I mentioned about WALDO PEPPERS restaurant well now they say that they will only fry fish on weekdays so we took our fish to BIG BOPPERS which is just east of the Hi-Way bait shop, they did a good job with good service for $10.00 a person. We didn't catch any monsters just 4lb average, congrats on a nice fish. Was the lake crowded where you fished?

Yeah the lake was packed, we fished shallow water and we would be successful, but then trollers or other boats would fly through close to us, which the captain said scared off fish. The first spot we drifted had 2 other boats we we got there and about 30 after the drift, so our captain tried to move to the spots where there was little pressure. My big one was catch in about 8 feet of water and the whopper was caught in about 10 feet of water. It was funny because the captain told us not to take pictures until the end and as soon as that big fish came in he stopped everything to take pictures, his wife was waiting with a camera when we got off the boat to take pictures of the 31.5 incher. Needless to say I imagine it will be on his website soon. We had a spot where we caught 3 in a minute and we were going to redrift and a couple of speedboats flew through about 30 yds away from us. That was sort of the story of the day, people trying to fish on of us while we were already set up. I think I only caught 5 sheep but I was working the reeling in pretty fast. One guy caught probably close to 20 throughout the day. Like I said even though we didnt limit out we still had a good time and the 10lb walleye made the trip exciting. Our captain worked hard to try to put us on the fish it just didnt happen in numbers, plus he took all of the sheep off so we didnt have to touch the nasty things. The captain said there are maybe 5 fish a year that come into his marina that are that size. We had camera issues (batteries, lost cameras, etc.) so there werent a lot of pictures but I will try to post a picture of my buddies big fish sometime this week. We ended up just eating at pizza hut, but I know where big boppers is. We also stay at Fort Firelands and take our fish to Bombas.

BIG BOPPERS is located on STATE ROAD 163 just east of the High-way bait shop and the road that you turn on to get to Bomba's, they are a funky looking old road house type restaurant with a guy cooking ribs in the parking lot. They do not have an alcohol license. There was nobody fishing for White Bass at the old light house which is a first because things are still a week or 2 behind schedule. Our group will be going again twice in September, once for Ohio Walleye and once for Perch in Canadian waters or about 22 miles north of Marblehead. On Friday we were fishing in about 20'-25' of water and pulling Raspberry colored 3"spoons behind those giant plainer boards. We never net the Goats he just takes long-nose pliers and releases them from the back of the boat without bringing them aboard.
