Hey guys....A fellow bow hunter here that is moving from the Ozarks of Arkansas to the Indy area. Should be settled in with the family around July. I live in a neighborhood here in Arkansas but there was 10 acres behind the house where I could bow bunt in "city limits"....is this allowed in towns outside Indy? Also are leases fairly easy to come by? Any recommendations on how to go about getting hooked up on a lease? My wife is worried about finding a house...I'm worried about where I'm going to hunt when we get up there!
Thanks!

Welcome! Its great to have ya here. Great forum with great preple. there is a lease catergory on here. Also, try craigslist or even in the most populated areas there is tons of farm land. I live in Fishers which is one of the fastest growing areas in the nation and i can get out to some rural...ish area pretty quickly. Im sure theres a landowner somewhere willing to trade hunting rights for some backstraps or work anyways, thanks for joining

Try BasecampLeasing.com.
Its a pretty straight forward website to navigate. They are based out of Fishers (just north or Indianapolis . We lease through them and its all worked out fine.
Good luck if you do enough door knocking theres a chance to gain permisson to hunt somebody property but it is getting harder and harder.

Good luck if you do enough door knocking theres a chance to gain permisson to hunt somebody property but it is getting harder and harder. About the only way(s) to obtain a place to hunt in Indiana is: 1. Buy your own land. 2. Hunt on public hunting areas. 3. Find a landowner who will let you hunt, but as stated this is very had to find a place in Indiana nowdays. 4. You can lease a place but the price of that lease might be very high priced. If all of the above fails to work for you then you might take up fishing instead.

Indy area is also part of the Urban deer zone. Opens to bow hunters 15 days sooner. Used to be an extra buck but not sure if that rule has changed. If you can find the spot to hunt there are lots of deer in the urban zones. Tell you wife the houses will be easy to find. The hard part is finding a buyer these days. Good luck. I am sure you will be ready to go back to the mountains after a year in Indy

I loved the Ozarks when we visited, the sulpur water not so much............lot more rules here in Indiana. As to leases, can be difficult, part of the hunter ed program we attended last fall was on how not to scare or off landowners.......it's that much of a challenge nowadays. If you do get permission I would get it in writing.
