Mama Threetoes and I were sittin' against a big old oak yesterday doin' some blind calling. After about 45 minutes I was off in La La land about half asleep when Mama started elbowing me in the ribs. Thinking a gobbler had caught me asleep, I sneaked a peek around the back side of the tree. Seeing nothing, I leaned over towards her side and whispered, "gobbler"? Just then the elbowing started again this time harder and accompanied by some excited stammering and stuttering. She finally managed to get the word "cat' out, just as I leaned over to see what she was lookin' at. Just a hair over 30 feet away was a bobcat putting the stalk on us. No doubt he thought it was a turkey dinner! When it saw my ugly old head peekin' around the tree it didn't take it long to decide it wasn't a hen turkey. Pretty neat experience and we didn't have any trouble staying awake the rest of the hunt! LOL PS Mama says it's eyes were spooky lookin'!

Very cool.
I had a young coyote jump on me one time several years ago .... I was sitting in a blown down tree-top calling and caught movement out of the corner of my eye. That yote actually jumped and hit me in the shoulders.
He knew in mid-air that I was not breakfast but he had already committed to pouncing .... he was literally running midair when he hit me and was gone faster that I could get my gun up.

I have called three bobcats in while squealing to the coyotes. It is pretty neat, ? What county did you see this one in? Hoosier.

Man I hope we get a bobcat season sometime, I don't know for sure if we have a huntable population or not but I'd sure love to take a whack at one the next time I see one but I've only seen one in pike county.

That was indeed a very rare & neat encounter, Tom! I once had a Bobcat stop and rest just 40 feet from my Tree Stand once during the 1998 Ky. Deer season.
