Back against a large tree. seems most folks prefer to hunt using a tent blind. I prefer to hunt the Ole fashion way,but rainy days seem to alter my hunting style abit.

I have no plans to use a blind any time soon. If it's raining and my friction calls get wet, I just go to a mouth diaphram. Blinds may offer better concealment, but I've done fine with natural blinds/trees. I like to be able to move if needed, and I don't want to carry a blind or leave one in the woods. Looks like the vegetation will be greening up this year too, which will help with concealment.

the blind setup in the middle of a huge field with the dave smith decoys out front is flat out deadly on wild turkeys!!!
I don't miss leaning up against a tree with a huge root grinding into my back while my legs fall asleep!
that's just me though... lots of ways to bag a turkey!
;D ;D

Where Woodmaster and I hunt in KY the ground is all field. We set up on the edges and Ive got my blind out in the field. It is in a corner so I can shoot two edges.

I still hunt the old fashion way. I will be putting out a blind during the youth season for my son and I. He wants to take one with a bow. If he gets his with a bow I guess ill give it a try during the regular season with a bow. He gets hard to live with when he does somthing that the old man hasnt done yet.

cool! I do think the blind lets you get closer to turkeys and sure makes it MUCH easier to hunt them with a bow--never got one with a bow myself ;D ;D going to try the crossbow this season!! 3 years ago a friend and I went to Nebraska for our first trip ever, we were hunting on private property so we we were not concerned with someone stealing our blind. Two days before season we set the blind up as our PLAN-B location just in case. Opening morning we awoke to thunder, lighting and an all day rain. We spent the entire day in that blind snug as a bug in rug and we each killed a turkey. If your hunting on public land our your running and gunning then I would go without the blind but it sure is nice to have a blind that you can move around in.

I love running and gunning I've tried to sit in a blind but I just can't stand it. To actually hunt down a turkey and use my skills against his is so fun to me! If you like to blind hunt I say good on ya, I like to do it this way but I have no problem with someone blind hunting just means I get more exercize running the hills.

I can go either way. I start my day out chasing them and if no luck I then go to one of my blinds I already have put out.

Bought a blind a few years ago. Used it once for duck hunting and once for turkey hunting. I prefer to be more mobile and rely on sitting still when I find my spot.

I had a blind for about 10 years and didn't use it until the last two seasons in Indiana. Two of us hunted out of it with one of us filming. I'd much rather hunt without it. I like to chase birds and having the blind makes that a little more difficult. If I ever decide to shoot one with my bow, I'll probably do it out of a blind. Although I think that takes a lot out of the accomplishment of shooting one with a bow.

I've tried once to hunt turkey from a blind, and didn't care for it. I do not even care a whole lot for hunting deer out of a blind, although I am much more apt to deer hunt with one than turkey. I think it has to do with only being able to see out of one eye for the last several years and it limiting my vision, i'm not sure. I just prefer to use the natural cover for the most part, at least where I hunt. And with turkey, when I want to move a hundred yards or to the next ridge, I don't have to worry about a blind. I'm not one to sit for hours in one spot waiting on a bird to show up. No doubt they work though.

I use a wrap around Hunter Specialty blind at the pre- scouted set-up , this helps in concealing any movement with call and useing binoculars.. etc..,,,helps if you have youngsters with ya too! works fo me ....the eyes of turkeys are real sharp....movement at the wrong time will get you busted and they just walk in a different direction..........GOOD LUCK HUNTING - INDIANA MEMBERS....be safe .... ................turkey scout

And here I thought that hunting turkeys the old fashioned way was fall turkey hunting. At least that is what the old timers have told me. Myself I use a blind and a bow. I hunt small properties therefore if I run and gun I'm done in 10 minutes. I wish I had big properties to hunt.
