Most years turkey hunters around April complain that our season is to late. With all this bad weather I haven't seen any complaints this year.

I have been seeing it on other boards. Complaining that the birds are already struting and getting with hens 3 weeks before season starts.

That cool snap should have slowed things down a bit.

Let them get with those hens! As soon as they go to sit on the nest is when ol' tom comes my way.

I talked to one of my friends who is a pro staffer for HS Strut. He told me the biologist that said that the cold will hold them up a bit but if the weather breaks, like it looks like, they will be fired up and ready to roll on opening morning. I personally think that the season is just right, we take plenty of birds and they have already passed on genes. I like the way it works.

I agree ahawkeye, the sooner they get done with the hens out there, the better. I've shot my turkey on opening day the last two years, no complaints here.
