can i use a remington 700 .243 wsm action to build a .358 wssm Can't see why not. You will have to rebarrel your Remington 700 action to .358 WSSM as the case is shorter than the .243 WSM case, or are you referring to .243 WSSM to .358 WSSM?? In this case yes it is doable.

Since you have a .243, you'll need to rebarrel to the .358 wssm cartridge. Also the bolt face will need to be enlarged. All of these changes will run a great deal of cost, why don't you just buy or trade for a .44 Mag or another PCR cartridge firing rifle?

can i use a remington 700 .243 wsm action to build a .358 wssm Yes but its much easier to use a rifle already chambered in either a WSSM or WSM caliber. Best rifles to convert are the Savage 16 WSM Weather Warrior. Find a used one that use a stacked mag instead of the newer in-line, simple barrel swap and your ready to go. Plus the Accutrigger is very nice. Ive made 3 of them so far. Initial cost is kind of high for brass and dies but they shoot and are a 400 yard gun. h.h.

If you can find a Browning A-Bolt in .25 WSSM then you can just have the barrel rebored & chambered to the .358 WSSM cartridge. The browning would be about the best rifle to convert and the magazine would be right in that it wouldn't be too long or short. Again the cost of the rifle + the work involved rechambering will be high. I am quite certain if Browning or any other gun manufacture would see a future (outside of Indiana) for the .358 WSSM they would be chambering rifles for this cartridge.

I did something similar with a Tikka T3 and made a .375 Whisper. dood advice here. Get the right bolt face to start with, then rebarrel. The guy that did my work didn't like to use Remingtons, he said they would not cycle the shells properly.
