When I finially gave up on finishing the barn Saturday evening, I was wondering if I had missed a great chance to be looking.....

Korean, we have tons of public property around here loaded up with shrooms, especially come time for the yellows. Early season I look for spots that have a grayish tint to the leaves on the ground. I am not sure what tree the leaves are from but they always seem to be around when finding grays and blacks. When yellows start coming up, its all about the elms.
Yesterday I went out and checked my traditional spots next to my parents house. These spots have been dry for years, but it has just been a tradition since I was a kid. Anyway the first two spots were dry like expected, but the third I actually found one, then another, and another all the way up to 15.
Lastnight I got a text message from my brother, we was out playing in the woods at midnight and went by where he had picked some earlier that day and said there were 1" ers everywhere. So this morning I got up and went back to where I had picked yesterday, and walked out with 8 more in an hour. I know these numbers aren't huge but even when I did find mushrooms out there I would find one or two. Looking likes its gonna be and excellent year.

Went down to Fairbanks today, didn't find or hear of any Yellows yet, did find around 25 Blacks and a bunch of lil pecker heads. All in all around 100 were found in a couple hours.

Went this morning with a guy that I work with after we got off. Hit 4 spots and came home with right around 175. Biggest was only 4". Was hoping for twice that many and bigger. Probably by Monday when we go again.

Found 130 more today in two different spots. Most were 3-5" with one almost 8". Also had a gobbler fired up about 1:00, but couldn't get him out of my foodplot so the guy with me could get a look at him. He said he'll never turkey hunt and I thought getting one close might change his mind.

Went Monday morning to our usual spot and only found about 20. Headed to a new spot that we'd never looked before and added about 15 more. Then we hit another spot for the first time and hit the mother lode. We only got to hunt it for an hour and a half and only covered about a quarter of the area, but found 170 there alone.
