Thinking about getting a barrel shortened for my Mossberg 500 for use as a turkey barrel. I've got a 28" barrel that is just too long for my liking for that purpose (it's nearly 30" with the extended choke!). I see a few 24" barrels on Gunbroker, and that's an option I guess, but I think I'd like something shorter than that- 20-22" range I think. Problem is, I think I'm looking at having to get one cut down, and then the muzzle will need to be threaded for a choke...
Anybody have any recommendations for a smith that can do this type of work? I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on it, if it will be too much I might as well buy a new shotgun.....

I know Cabela's used to install screw in chokes for a real reasonable price. You may want to check there?

Its a fairly simple job to do if you have the right tools. Most any good gun shop can do it or have it done. If the barrel is ribbed then its not as easy as one thats not. h.h.

I don't know of one in N.H., but Verne Trester here in Indy is good at that stuff.
