I'm thinking about taking out a few coyotes at my buddies farm and my dad has a lever action .308 savage sitting at home. Does anyone use a .308 on coyotes? If so what is the .308's effective range on coyotes?

I would guess 300 yards or so would be easy with a 200 yard zero. Here's a Hornady chart I found on the net. www.hornady.com/images/ballistics/ballistics_charts.pdfI don't know if it is a popular round for shooting coyotes or not but it will certainly get the job done. I say go for it! Post up some doggy pics when you connect!

I've shot four Coyotes with one of my .308's at ranges of 90 to 200 yards, including a Deer chasing stray (60 pound Dog) @ 100 yards. I use both 125 & 150 grain bullets.
