Hey guys I got a gift card to BPS and they didn't have what I was really looking for but I decided I would buy some food plot stuff with it.
What kind of plot should I plant for spring summer? My neighbor has a 20 acre hay field and behind the woods will be a corn field so I'd like to add some variety. If they have habitat cover I would even consider that but at any rate I need to decide what to buy and figured I'd get some of your expertice before letting loose of that $50 card.
I have some good spots in mind and have access to implements to get the ground worked up.
Thanks in advance, Duff

First decide what time of the year you want the deer to feed in it. If for summer/early fall plant stuff thats high in protein, for late fall/early winter plant stuff thats high in carbs. Examples of Protein plants are clovers and oats, carbs are turnips/rape and winter wheat. h.h.

OK, that is what I was looking for. I was already planning on putting some sunflower strips out for the various critters, and probably a large sweet corn plot for the 2 legged critters but I'd leave it up until at least dove season. Looks like I will get some clover as I will plant the turnip and rape plot for the fall again this year.
Thanks guys.

When I buy their products, I usually buy direct. On my property, their products work the best. I've never had the deer hit any rape/turnip blend. I've also had good results by planting winter Oats. Local grain elevator, $11/50# bag. The deer hit it just as well as Buck Forage Oats.
