What do you use to lubricate your grinder? I got a grinder this year and it says to spray the parts with “Food Grade Silicone”. I haven’t had any luck finding this product, and I’m planning on butchering my buck tomorrow. Where can I find it locally? We've already tried Wal-Mart and Ace Hardware. any other suggestions?
I know my wife’s uncle uses Crisco on his. Is Crisco OK to use, or what should I use?

Thanks for the info, but I'm processing the deer tomorrow. I've found it at several places online. Does anyone know where I can find it local?

Our Rural King had some of this. For years I never used the stuff though. When you wash your parts use a hair dryer to make sure they're dry. I never had a problem rusting. I don't know why Crisco or Pam wouldn't work. I'd just wash them good before using again.

Right or wrong I too have never used any lube on the grinder, I just make sure to dry all the parts before storing away.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll use Crisco tomorrow, and then make a trip to the Rural King in Martinsville in the next few days. I thought about using PAM/vegetable oil cooking spray, but after it dries it leaves a sticky residue behind, and I was afraid it would do more harm than good for long term storage.

Any type of vegetable oil will do fine.
