Right now the temp is 26 degrees, it's snowing to beat the band and the winds are howling out of the north. I hunted in my duck blind from 2:00 till 4:00 and when I headed to the house there were drifts nearly 2' deep in areas.

Man I don't envy you. My nephews and I checked the weather this past week and decided Saturday was the best day for a duck hunt out near Mill Creek. I really didn't want to fight a snowstorm on a Sunday drive back to Indy.
I love to hunt in the "region" snow but y'all can have it the rest of the time!

We're supposed to go out tomorrow morning, that's providing I can get out to the main road! It'll be nasty out there, but my buddies who were out today said the ducks were really moving.

It's days like this that make me wish I had a nice cushy office job instead of my construction company!!

I have never been one to say " I AM SNOWED IN " however today I am. Cotton: you are lucky you left when you did. I here ya there. And I was complaining about the 1-2 foot drifts had this morning. How high are ya drifted there? I remember days on the farm when we pushed some "1 foot snowfalls" 1/3rd the height of the telephone poles because of the drifts from 30+ mph winds.

I have not ventured out as of yet however the Sheriffs dept. has closed LaPorte co. and issued a state of emergency. I would say that in the last 24 hours we got about 12"-14"however the high winds are causing drifting and white out conditions. There are drifts around my home that are 4-5' high. And yes I remember the snow storm of 1978 where it took massive front end loaders days to open some roads.

I got up at 3 this morning, and was out the door at 4:15, only to return at 4:20. The road down the street was impassible. It's still snowing sideways here and drifting.
The dog's footprints are filled in less than 10 minutes later.
I remember spending the night in the Welco TruckStop in Walkerton in the late '70's due to the snow closing SR23 Southbound.
