Just trying to get a handle on the value of an Ithaca Deerslayer that has a rifled barrel. The gun is about 25 years old and hasn't been hurt a bit. Maybe had 50 slugs put through it.
It is a Mag and will shoot 2 3/4" and 3" slugs.
I can not find any values on a rifled barrel Deerslayer, just the smooth bores. They look to go for about $350.
Any ideas?
I do know the Deerslayer IIs go new for $899.

I assume you checked Gunbroker? The only ones I saw on there was Deerslayer IIs . Not sure what makes a Deerslayer a II ?

According to this, the rifled barrel makes it a II. randywakeman.com/Ithaca_Deerslayer_II_Twenty_Gauge_Review.htmI found two Ithaca Model 37 Deer Slayer 12 ga. on two different auction sites. Both sold for $250. One said smoothbore, the other one didn't say. I can't find a single example of a Deer Slayer with a rifled barrel that isn't a II. Is it an after market barrel maybe?

If the results of that review are typical then those shoot about as good as anything on the market today.

the deerslayer II barrel is fixed like a rifle barrel it can not be taken off easily like most shotguns I think

Ithaca emailed me back and said that the gun was made in 1989. Since they have went through a few different owners they will have to do some digging for any other info on the gun.
Parson,
The gun is a tack driver. I just never cared for the bottom eject. I used it two seasons - probably 1990 and 1991.

Some advice: Get a GOOD recoil pad for the light weight Ithaca M-37!!!!!! I made the mistake of shooting my Father's 12 gauge Ithaca 37 without any recoil pad at the bench to sight-in back in 1989. Ended up with a nerve injury in my back to the point that I can't draw even a compound to full draw, so I had to give-up archery hunting.

Woody:
I have one of the Deerslayers, and have had it for a long time. It orig. came with a smoothbore, but I bought a rifled barrel for it - it's an Ithaca barrel. I needed to tell them what serial number the gun was because there was a slight change and it was needed to get the correct barrel. Like was said earlier, the Deerslayer II has a fixed barrel.
I drilled and tapped the reciever for a scope, the rifled barrel ony came with iron sights. The gun really liked the old BRI sabots, but since Winchester bought them I never found a sabot that did as well. I now have a Tar-Hunt DSG that I use for slug gun hunting.
Lots of duck hunters like (or used to) the bottom ejection so they aren't tossing shells on their buddies in a blind. Being light weight, it's a great carry around gun, but you're right, recoil is stiff.

I have a featherlight smoothbore with I.C. choke I used to use on quail and grouse that kicks harder than any other 12 gauge I've ever owned, but it's a deadly snap shooter. I wouldn't want to even think about a deer slug out of that platform.

Ithaca got back with me again. My gun is an Ithaca Model 37 Deerslayer II made in 1989. It is a Mag and will chamber both 2 3/4" and 3" shells. I did shoot a few 3" BRIs through it..
