Putting out my Christmas wish list for this year-didn't let anyone know what I wanted last year and got a "Christmas Story Leg Lamp" ;D
Anyway just as an afterthought at the end of the list for the typical stuff (shirts, gloves, etc.), I put down a deer cartidge legal pistol for Indiana. Now Danf has been asking questions-like what kind of pistol, what caliber, etc....not that I really expect one but he might be able to watch for a "deal" for me.
I've been pretty much a long gun or smokepole person for years- don't reallly own a short gun (I have Phoenix Arms .22 just for plinking)
so I'm kind of wondering what all some of you might suggest?
I've been wondering around in the guns section for the last several weeks just to get some background and so far think I'd rather go for something at the very least in the .357 Max but it sounds like .44, or more, will get out to the ranges I'm used to with the smokepole with similar results. Also with that muzzleloader background I probably tend to hold off on shots until I know I have the best shot possible...kind of hard to break 25+ years of a "one shot only" thought process at my age ;D
What kind of pistol?? I can see myself also using whatever I have for hog hunting which also means that a second or more shot may be warranted for life safety but so far I've pretty much dropped the porkers to a "dirt nap" so that option may not be as much of a need.
I really haven't used a pistol much since qualifying with one in the Corps but had no problem getting my expert rating at that time so am kind of excited about having another option in my very small arsenal.
Any thoughts or input out there??
