Good description HH. And, it really is quick and simple. I did mine in probably less than 20 minutes from start through clean up.

You've got better bullet selection with a .357 vs. .44. I haven't fully researched everything available, but there's a lot more pointy bullets for the .35 calibers than .44's.
I just got a 10" Contender barrel that's chambered for .357 mag, thinking about opening it up to max and getting rid of my 14" barrel. Never had a reamer in hand, much less used one. That being said I'm thinking about trying it myself. That is if I can't get the builder of the barrel (none other than OTT himself) to rechamber it for me.

Ok, I decided to do the trade for the .357 and go with the max. Can any of you fix me up with some reloads?

Are you wanting loaded ammo or load suggestions?

Loaded ammo. I know i should get set up to reload but this being the only non-factory load I am going to be using I hate to go to that expense

Ive shot them @ 100 yards and they shoot right at 2" groups. The load he uses use Accurate Arms 1680 and 180 grain Hornday SSP. His sun has shoot several deer and they all have been DRT using this load. h.h.

I could load some up for you, but have very, very few 357 bullets at the moment...

hh- what kind of reamer have you used? I'm considering opening up a Contender barrel I recently acquired, but I'm not sure what I need- solid pilot vs removable as Pacific Tool & Gauge has both types available...

No farther than you are reaming solid worked good. The reamer doesnt take very much metal off either. h.h.

kodiack50, Sorry, he doesn't want to sell any ammo. 25-28 grains of AA 1680, 180 Hornady SSP, Rem 7 1/2 small rifle primer is the load. Hes got 3 guns shooting 25 grains and one gun shooting 28 grains of 1680. He suggested you ask on Greybeards and most likely someone will sell you loaded ammo. h.h.

I don't know how much you shoot but you can get a Lee single stage reloading kit for around $100. You would have to buy dies on top of that, but for $150 or so you can load your own and tweak them to suit your particular rifle.

That is the next thing on my list. danf Rented a reamer from a guy in N.M for $20 plus return shipping.

Wait until after January to see if In. goes to a case length of 1.8". This opens the door on a whole bunch of rifle cartridges if you reload. I shoot a shortened 45-70 case to 1.625" now and it shoots great. At 1.8" the 35 rem, 358 win, 444, are additional candidates.
