Keep him away from that magic mud or he's liable to heal up and run off before you post your picture of him.

Are you sure he wasn't a 1.5 year old. A 5.5-6.5 deer would be much more well endowed than him. Anyway congrats on your buck

whiteoak, his teeth were worn down almost to the gum line, it was his time, my uncle said that last year he was a nice basket raccked eight point, when they get old they go way down hill, he weighed around 197lbs. still a big old deer, and thanks.

Bucks are considered in their prime at 5 1/2 years old. A buck of that age will not have teeth worn down to the gumline. It looks like what you have there is a nice tasty yearling. How old was he according to your eyball to nose length chart?

Sorry, but there is nothing "old" about that deer at all! I will just about guarantee that none of us ehre in the Hoosier State will ever actually see a deer in the wild that has "gone down hill" as far as rack and physical condition is concerned.

I wouldnt agree with that ......
Be willing to bet I laid eyes on a deer last night that was older than 8.5 years and was indeed on the way down hill.
Might even be able to provide a picture of said deer later today.

They don't get short AND spindly.
