Text for the Day -- Proverbs 15:8-10, 33 ---------- The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight. The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but he loves the one who pursues righteousness. There is severe discipline for one who forsakes the way, but one who hates a rebuke will die. The fear of the LORD is instruction in wisdom, and humility goes before honor.
Devotional ---------- There is a strong contrast in these verses between the worship of an unjust person and a just person. God sees the unjust worshiper as a hypocrite. If this person cannot love, but uses his neighbor unjustly, how can he worship in truth. If one refuses to face and recognize his sins or unrighteous behavior, the door closes. If we humbly present ourselves before God honestly, we are honored in God's presence.
Prayer --------- O God, humble my heart through your Holy Spirit. Amen
