LOL ! I was just tryin to figure out how many guys on here live in the "Deep South" of Indiana ?
I live in Floyd County ( New Albany, IN ) so Im curious how many other guys are hunting down my way ?
I hunt mainly Public Ground including the Clark State Forest in Henryville, and alot at Deam Lake Recreation area so Im wondering if anyone else if hunting those areas ?
If so have you had any luck ? What are you seeing as in doe/buck ratios ? And do you have any other public ground near down here that you would recommend me trying out ?
Thanks for your time and responses ! And Good Luck this Season

I hang out a few miles west of Pleasant for a week or so during the firearm season, will be interesting how the drought has affected the big game population in that area.

CATDADDY, Im thinking of heading to the Harrison-Crawford forestry a few times this year, but now Im no longer sure of where you can and cant hunt ! I know a few guys used to hunt in there near the Fire tower and they were told they cant hunt that area anymore, also I hear that you cant hunt any of the Obannon woods park so I need to research a lil more before I head that way ! Good Luck to all of you ! Thanks for the replys

You can not hunt the part of the Harrison Crawford that is now Obannon Woods State Park. There are plenty of places that you can still hunt.

Deep south.....Less than 2 miles from the point of Indiana where the Ohio and Wabash meet. Can't get much further South in Indiana than Posey County. I guess some people think that anything South of Indy is Southern, IN. But a lot of those Counties are way North of where I live in Vanderburgh and Warrick County IN. I guess it's all just a matter of perspective! I hunt or have hunted in the past Posey, Vanderburgh, Warrick Counties. But my hunting frequency is low. I fish a lot more than I hunt. I'm just now trying to get back into hunting. It's hard without access to private farms. Fishing on the other hand is much easier as their are many place to fish public waters down here.

Yep, you can't get any farther south than Posey county, Point township, right next to the river. With the sirens from the dam covering up my grunts & rattles. If I walk out of the woods onto the beach next to the river I may be in Kentucky. I have hunted Posey, Vanderburgh, Warrick, Gibson, & Pike counties.

Live on Westside of Evansville and hunt down around sparky's neck of the woods, not to mention several other areas. I use to live in Northern Vanderburgh County, and most of my hunting was on my 15 acres located in McCutchenville. However, in addition, I had access to hunt on property that the Hahn family (Hahn Inc.) owned, which was several acres. Had some successful Deer hunts on both places. Now, I understand both areas are built-up with housing and strip malls, so finding a place to hunt in that small county would be tough.
