i got an email from the kank today. They said the water is still down but all the blinds are brushed and ready to go. they do have birds so you should do OK, especially with the 2nd pick

As of Monday there was no water in most of the third unit of the K-Y area. The first unit had water along the yellow river side however 1-K was dry. Hunting the KANKAKEE changes from day to day depending on the winds. Blinds such as 1-Y 2-Y 4-K and 18-Y are almost always a good choice. Once the Gumz unit has good water and is open most guys try to get in there. If things start freezing up then head for 9-10-11-12 they are deep water blinds and stay open later then the rest. If I had second choice on the 24th I would go to either 1-Y 2-Y OR 1-K IF 1-K has good water.

How did you do today. Ive hunted there many times in that area. I am not from there I'm from Southern In. Evv. There is usually several of use that go up and camp at Tip.Stat Park. But is was not able to go this year. Just wanted to now how it was up there sense they reworked the property.

The first few days saw a fair amount of shooting with Wood ducks, Teal and others making up the bag also some geese thrown in for good measure. Now things are getting a little stale.

Couple of buddies drew second to last choice, they decided to hunt the farm instead. they never popped a cap and only saw a handful of ducks. On a bright note this past week I saw a lot of what I would call migrating ducks, most I have seen in years.

All we seen were wood ducks the fist hour then a duck or two here and there. Sleeping in for a day or two and hopping for new birds.
