Took me a while to get around to it, but I finally got this year's turkey mounted.

Nice mount. I like the barn wood. I have a deer skull with the antlers I found, real nice buck. Somebody must have not been able to find it. I am thinking of mounting it on a long piece of barn wood with a turkey fan behind it. Maybe tie the skull on with old barbed wire. I like the way you put the wing feathers on.

Thanks all. I was trying to think of something different for this one, and thought it looked pretty good on the weathered siding. Adding the wing feathers was an afterthought. If you look closely, I put some wampum I found in a creekbed as spacing between the spurs

Looks great.
The wing feathers do top it off.

True wampum is beads crafted from clam or whelk shells, usually barrel or disk shaped. They were strung or used for beading on belts, and sometimes used as barter by Indians and fur traders. These I used are actually fossilized, segmented worms found in gravel bed streams. After very long periods of time, the action of moving water breaks the segments apart into disk shaped pieces with a perfect hole in the center. Doughnut shaped is a good description. Perfect for stringing on a necklace or for use as beading. I used the term wampum a little too liberally here I suppose. They are not genuine wampum, but they do fit the definition of disk shaped beads. So I suppose you called me out on this bsutravis. They do make a neat natural souvenir though. The grandkids had fun finding and collecting enough of these on a recent canoe trip to make themselves an unusual and unique necklace.
