As a newer turkey main-lining addict, I can't get my rush filled in the woods now, how do I do it? Bungy jumping? Base Jumping? Climbing Mt Everest? ? I mean I love to fish, but you know it isn't turkeys. Help I can only watch those DVD so many times before the firefighters have me committed......

Umm, squirrel season starts August 15. ;D
It's not quite the same, but I've declared war on chipmunks here at my house... That'll help some, but probably only for the next month or so. Other than that, I'll be working on clearing some ground for a new food plot and building a dam next to the food plot to create a water pool.
Not to mention the usual household chores- mowing, weed pulling in the garden, playing with the kids (not really a chore, I suppose), etc, etc. It never ends around here, so the time will go rather quickly.
All in all, I'm still looking forward to September 15 (opening of urban archery zone, if that hasn't changed), and October 1.

Eric
Be patient brother. I know that is hard to do. I agree with you, a fishing pole does not replace a bow or muzzleloader.
Consider attending some seminars that will help you be a better steward to wildlife...like the Dr. Grant Woods seminar on July 28th at Mt. Vernon H.S. How's that for a plug...

Try this first. Take two aspirin and see if you feel better in the morning.

Buy yourself a .22-250!!!!!!! There are plenty of feral cats and a fair number of ground hogs around, as well as the elusive brown-headed cowbird, that would love to have a set a cross-hairs positioned over their little brain-pans!! Surely there are some crows depredating or ABOUT TO depredate somewhere!

Better yet use that rifle on the coyotes that seem to hang around my decoys all the time. Seriously, if you like turkey hunting that much there's lots to do with habitat improvement and predator control throughout most of the year. Maybe by helping the turkeys you can increase their numbers and learn more about these great birds.

Actually I have changed my mind, I don't have a problem and can quit anytime I want, LOL. I like the idea of the feral cats and crows and coyotes, I may have to try that. It isn't that I like hunting so much, but this turkey hunting has got me gutt hooked and I can't help it. I fell in love again with the great outdoors and the little things I was missing, plus hearing ol' tom gobble.....if someone can do that without being hooked, you haven't got a heart or soul. I am already planning my KY trip next year and I am picking up the sport of oreinteerning (can't spell) so i can scout some this summer, just to learn the terrrain more and exersice walking up and down those hills. Jack what type of dog is that there? German Short haired? I hear they are a great dog.

Ahhh I too have this problem and have been working on a multi state hunt for next year. I went to Missouri this year and will include it as well as Kansas and possibly Oklahoma in the mix next year. I figure 10 days straight will keep me happy....won't it !!!

If the guys at the firehouse are going to have you committed, you need to switch shifts. Come on Lt., pull rank during TV time. LOL

Well we actually have a few TV's, but when you lock yourself in a room and don't come out for hrs and I am making funny sounds on my calls and crouched in the corner "hiding" in camo and the such..... I am sorry I regressed for a second. No body told me this TURKEY HUNTING was an actual sickness HAHAHA, I am so glad to have it too. This is a great site and fun folks. Although I do have to say I got a reprieve from the disease last week, I took the kids fishing and my 6 y/o son caught his first 8 large mouth on his own, it was a blast to watch his hoop and hollar. They were 10-14" long. He had a blast.
