My son and I hunted three days in the Sproul state forest in Clinton county. The weather was perfect but we didn't hear a single gobble. We did see a good number of deer and to top it off we seen two good size black bears with a 1/4 mile of our cabin.

Not a single gobble in PA. Wow! Good you got to see some deer and bear though. As most hunters will tell you, "It's the experience that counts, not the kill". There's always next year.

That's the first time I've turkey hunted in that area and didn't have time to do any pre scouting. I am going back again this year for the bear season and may take an extra day of vacation for the last day of the fall turkey season.

hey shootsa410, you forgot your lucky hunting partner(indyhunter) i guarantee ya the turkeys would have been in your lap ,he"s so good, he can call them in with just a flapping wing. he the greatest! i also think indyhunter can hear them turkeys pecking the ground, a big advantage when they are not gobbling very well!... turkey scout....

That would have been great for him, not me, since he would have cut them off before they got near me. I did see one on the way home I bet he would have tagged, it was laying on the side of the road. A road kill is a kill if it fills a tag.

No PA bird for me either.
Hunted last Thurs-Sat. and weather was pretty miserable until Saturday. Had hens in range several times but no gobblers. Wish I lived closer. My Grandpa can get me on more land out there than I would know what to do with.
