For those of us limited to turkey hunting areas that are draw only we lost an hour of legal hunting time this year due to the time change. Will the DNR extend the time to 1:00 PM next year instead of 12 Noon? In previous years we got close to 6 hrs to hunt and this year it was only around 5. Any one know? h.h.

Not sure what you are getting at. We can hunt turkeys all day long.

They changed that a few years ago, you can hunt all day in Indiana for turkey....I gained an hour I get off work at 3:30 pm. which is actually 2:30 by the old time, which means an extra hour of daylight in the evenings to hunt turkeys and what not...Ridgerunner

No.... I think hornharvester is right...... On the draw hunts you have to be finished hunting by noon, out of the woods by 1pm. I see his point about losing an hour of hunting. Someone correct me if I am wrong!

This is quoted from the Indiana Hunting Regulations;
Wild Turkey Hunting Hours
Wild turkeys may only be hunted from 1/2 hour before sunrise to sunset. All Fish and Wildlife areas, Huntington Reservoir, Mississinewa and Salamonie Reservoirs have spring season hunting hours 1/2 hour before sunrise to noon eastern standard time. Call the property for additional information.
Guys that hunt these places and Muscatatuck have to quite hunting at 12 noon and be out of the woods by 1PM.
These guys lost a hour of legal hunting time with the time change. My question is will the DNR change it to cease hunting at 1PM and give back the hour? h.h.

Sorry HH,
I truly did not know that about the WMAs.
I thought the change to hunt all day was all over the state.
I wonder why the disparity?

Ive hunted Salamonie the last three years until this year and its always been quit at noon and out by 1PM. We lost an hour of legal hunting time and im wondering if the dnr will extend the time next year to 1 pm and out by 2 pm.
on the dnrs behalf the books were printed before the time change was passed. they did change the check-in to 1 hour later at the properties that required you to check-in but they didn't lengthen the hunting time to compensate the lost hour of daylight. im just wondering if they will give it back next year. h.h.
