How many of you like sassafras tea? I usually have a supply of roots around, and I like to drink it sweet & iced!
I'm just about to talk myself into brewing up a pot! ;D

That is an interesting site. After reading some it I will not dab any of this stuff behind my ears! Nor will I force feed massive amounts of it to my rats.
But I do enjoy drinking it once in a while.

I just cut a Sasafras tree yesterday that had uprooted itself.
How would I go about making tea? The roots are exposed and I have an entire tree

I only use the roots. I've heard that they are best when the tree is dormant in the winter. That's the only time that I'll harvest any.
I chip the root with a knife of hatchet, boil it, then strain it. I'll usually use a smaller pan. boil roots several times, until color is mostly gone.
Just experiment with it. Some like it stronger- others weaker. Sweeten to taste.

I have to give them a shot. It's been a long time since I had any. I always break a twig and smell it while out walking around.

I can stomach the tea as long as it has about 10 packets of sweet n low in it! I know my father-in-law has some of the roots in his barn, but he gives them to a couple old ladies who make walking canes out of them.
