How many deer have you killed in the past? Use the firearm that you can shoot the best. Watch your wind and hunt a funnel leading to a food source.

My advice would be to have fun. Your awful young to hold out for trophy deer, but I admire your ambition. Choose the weapon u feel most comfortable with and choose the buck that is a trophy to you!!!!! A trophy deer is in eye of the beholder. You will progress like most of us have each year you want to try to get something bigger than last. Good luck and enjoy the moment.

I would do whatever makes you happy and not worry about whatever anyones thinks. The only thing I suggested to Magnum was passing the yearlings - you just don't get much out of them.

And quit watching those hunting shows on television, think about it, they are trying to sell you a product, and that's the bottom line. When you get a little older, and more experienced, you will understand. Been there, done that.

I don't have a problem with him watching hunting shows, better than being out there doing dope or punking the neighborhood. And it's a good thing to have goals before you go hunting. It's one change in the last 40 years that is positive. The only suggestion I have is to find a good mentor to help with all the quick decisions you'll have to make.

Agree set a goal. EX. 8 pt or bigger. Or spread to ear's. Whatever you think is obtainable but will make you work a little. Huntingman your on the right path. I wish you much luck. Post us a picture of what you harvest.

Bean fields are a big buck hotspot this time of year, find a pinch point between the bedding area and the bean field.
