My bud and I went out, this being his first time, and he scored. We were up on a powerline easment looking for shrooms and heard a gobble. I set up and started calling and it took them about 30 min to get close. I new there were 2 birds but they hung up about 80 yrds away, so I stopped calling. Then we saw a head coming up over the hill angling towards us. My buddy had to swing his gun about 90 deg. and when he did the tom stuck his head up and bang, it was over. Weighed 18.5 lbs with a 10" beard and 7/8" spurs. I shot mine today up close to a field on the prop i hunt. He had been roosted there wed and thur, but I couldn't close the deal those two days, with hens being roosted near him. I got lucky today, no hens were close, and he piched out about 80 yrds away from me. Came in struttin and hot, and he was down at 6:40 am. He weighed 24 lbs with a 10" beard, and spurs that were 1" and 1/14".

Very nice birds.Congratulations to both of you. I'd say your buddy will be hooked for life now. Hopefully he doesn't think it will be that easy every time out.
