I recieved this today.
Mr. DeRoo,
Thank you for your email. Individuals are currently able to make comments via the Natural Resources Commission website (www.IN.gov/nrc/2377.htm). There will also be at least two public hearings scheduled in the future, though dates are to be determined. Additionally, I believe our Communications Division is planning on putting up a website on our page in the upcoming weeks that details the rules and the process it took to come up with them. Please continue to check our website and our WildBulletin emails for further information. Sincerely, Chad Stewart Deer Research Biologist Indiana Department of Natural Resources 553 East Miller Drive Bloomington, IN 47401 phone: 812-334-1137 fax: 812-339-4807

I've talked to Chad on a number of occasions and find him to be pretty sharp. My opinion on this is he is getting the "do as you're told" on this one. He is young and just getting started good in his career. Too young to make any waves against the establishment.

I predict that Mr. Stewart will end up losing his job over breaking normal protocal and making decisions based on the stakeholders meetings instead of public comment. Especially such drastic changes that are not backed up by any firm data.

Well, just like the second Indy Star article said, "it's a done deal".

I got one very similar but with a few more lines in it. Nothing profound but it wasn't copy and pasted. I don't envy Mr. Stewart right now!

I'm quite certain Stewart isn't running this show. Maybe, mabybe not - he holds the title Deer biologist so I am sure he feels some of the heat and is dealing with more people now then he would like! This will look good on his resume when he is ready to move to a state that pays their wildlife biologist!

Here is mine. Jeremy, Thank you for your comments and the amount of detail that you have provided. The Natural Resources Commission gave preliminary adoption to the proposed deer rule changes on July 20. You can give the Commission your comments for the official record by going to their website at: www.in.gov/nrc/2377.htm and click on "Comment on Proposed Rule" next to the deer (white-tailed) rule amendments. If you do not submit your comments/concerns to the Commission, they will not be included in the final report. You can also attend the public hearings on this rule package; they will be scheduled at a later date. The Division of Fish and Wildlife is in the process of developing a webpage to assist in answering the numerous questions folks have concerning the proposed deer rule revisions. As soon as the webpage is up and running, we will put out a Wild Bulletin noting the URL. If you sign up for Wild Bulletin, a free e-mail service from DNR, or check our website periodically, you will find updates as we move through the rule process. You can sign up for WildBulletin by going to our website at: www.in.gov/dnr/2350.htm. None of these changes will take place this year, and the Natural Resources Commission will have an opportunity to review all of the public comments before making a final decision at a future meeting.

BS! I never received any Wild Bulletin emails about the NRC proposed changes, nor the NRC meeting. I don't trust anything they say right now. Their credibility rating is "0" with me until they prove that "The Average Joe Deer Hunter" is important in making their decisions. Until then they can kiss my butt!!!!!!
