The counties that I hunt are starting to return to normal (whatever that is) from the EHD.
Hunters are starting to feel a little better and the farmers are starting to complain more.

Plant it and they will come. Not only deer but every other critter in the woods. True, but the land around is most likely Posted: "NO Hunting" or is developed into housing subdivisions. Therefore the Farmer suffers crop loss because the Deer & other wildlife have nowhere to go.

Overabundance is when our entire hunting group at deer camp sees multiple deer everytime out & it has not happened yet!

Numbers in Perry co. are low also. I have had my camera out for 4 weeks now over a salt lick and water hole. In those 4 weeks had 1 picture of 2 does that is it. Last year I had a half acre of corn left out all winter and come spring time there were still all kinds of ears on the stalks. Yep! the deer are running rampid in my neck of the woods. That is why we are a 4 non-antlered county. Makes alot of sense.

I hunt in Madison Co (typically a low deer # Co) and over the last 4 to 5 years the deer numbers have been increasing. My best day last year I saw 17 from my stand. Either that or I'm just getting that good!!!!! My buddy hunts up by South Bend and he stopped counting one day at 40 deer.

I hunt in Washington County and have seen fewer deer the last few years.
Between EHD, 8 bonus "antlerless" tags and the local Amish family killing everything that moves......the numbers of sightings of bucks and does has dropped to less than a third of what I used to see.

I typically have about 30-45 individual deer sightings a year. I don't expect to see 5-10 deer every time I go out or even a deer every time. If I'm not seeing deer, I move until I find them. I don't expect the state to allow the populations to reach levels that gaurantee me sightings (especially when in less than ideal spots). It is called hunting for a reason and I would much rather the DNR keep the herd at reasonable levels than EHD do it for them. One way or the other the herd will be reduced when it gets high.
