Remember my thread asking if the good old days of deer hunting are long gone or are they now I got the answer to that that I posted prior to all this political stuff .Yip it is long gone the fun and carefree bliss of just hunting without compition and backstabbing are dead and burried .it is all about power ,fame ,and money now days and that is the saddest part of all .It is not about the hunters or the deer anymore. Good bye old friend "deer hunting" I will miss you . I went back and read through that topic and it seems as though just as many guys, if not more, answered that they thought the good old days were now.

True. I think there would be more responses this time around simply because a lot of people are fired up about these proposed changes.

I went in this morning to pick up my .308 Ruger M-77 Hawkeye Ultra Light, as I had a new Timney trigger installed. Anyway, I told the shopowner about these Rule changes being proposed for Indiana, and he thought these changes were stupid! He wanted to know if all Hoosiers IDNR officials were crazy. Told him not all but the good ones are few & far between.

Bottom line is,,,,,the gun hunters lose something that they'll never get back. Anyone remember anything else that was on a 5 year "trial basis"??

Was there a first poll .... or just this thread? huntingindiana.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=deerhunting&thread=31969&page=1That is where I got my original numbers from ..... kind of hard to gauge from that topic but it looked like 6 of those who responded said the good ol days were gone and 9 of those responded said they were now or in the future. Wasnt really a poll but it looked like swilk tickman1961 duff timex steiny huntmeister jabba vortex100 oneshot and deerman1 mrfixit deertracks drs duck indianahick Lots of people who didnt participate in the original thread have participated in this poll. And vice-versa.

Doug, since it has been nearly a week without a response to the questions posted here from you, I have a couple of more for you.
If your reason for posting this thread was to enlighten and inform about the DNR's decision making process, why wouldn't you answer the questions that were posed?
Wouldn't your failure to answer those questions seem to indicate that your real reason for posting was to insulate and defend the IDHA and IBA?
Wouldn't an honest person that truly sought to inform answer even the tough questions fully and truthfully to the best of their ability?
Doesn't your failure to respond to the questions seem to indicate that the IDHA and IBA not only support the proposed rule changes but were a driving force behind them?

Just got this in my E-Mail: Thank you for contacting the Division of Fish and Wildlife. The proposed changes to deer rules are being presented to the Natural Resources Commission (NRC) at their meeting on July 20 for preliminary adoption. Everyone will have an opportunity to submit comments regarding these proposed changes to the Natural Resources Commission after preliminary adoption is given. The public comment period will last for several months, and there will be at least one public hearing scheduled. After preliminary adoption of a deer rule proposal, you may submit comments to the NRC through their website at www.in.gov/nrc/. The DNR will provide a response to the comments and the Natural Resources Commission will have an opportunity to review all of the comments and vote on final adoption at a meeting early next year. Please note that the proposed changes to deer rules will not be in effect this year.
