It was a cool morning so I went up to do a little shooting lane clearing. The stand I hunted last gun opener is in a pretty good location as I found out on the opener. I had quite a few deer close in, but a lot of stuff in the way. Especially if I was going to hunt it with a bow.
The stuff is pretty well cleared away now where this is now a gun and bow stand.
One should clear lanes as far in advance of season as possible....but we also have to be careful not to clear too much and expose ourselves later on when leaves drop..
Crops are looking good.... maybe we can get an early harvest?
The 60 acres in behind us has soy beans this year. First time in two years that it has been planted.
Anyone else getting antsy and clearing lanes?

I need a boat and a wet suit to do much on my property right now ......
Hopefully the White will be back in its banks by next weekend and I plan to move 5 or 6 stands and start preparing for the opener.

I have done a little shooting lately and a little planning for new stand locations. I will likely start clearing some shooting lanes this weekend as well.

Been done hanging stands since last part of April..hung 20 plus stands and cleared all lanes in April..hate to get in the woods this time of year when the big bucks are routinely coming out into crops feeding, and are in their summer patterns... the last thing I want is to disrupt a Big bucks pattern, or alert him to my presence.. get everything done in April and stay the heck out of my hunting area until October..might check my cameras every 2wks, drive up to them pull cards and get out of dodge, no lingering..sooner the better IMO.

Little early for me - except a tree came down that just has to have some surgery done so I am going to get the Stihl out shortly.
