I'm sure most of you are getting the same warm/windy weather we are up here in northern Indiana....
Wanted to see what the reports were for those of you in the woods.

I saw several does this morning and one three pointer that wanted all of them. I did find some nice buck sign on my way out that wasn't there a couple of days ago.

warm weather or not the rut will go one. ONLY it will be more after drak.
I hung a couple stands in Vanderburgh county last Sunday. The wind will be right for them, so I will concentrate on them the next few days.

Plan on being out there this evening. I take my stand out for the evening hunt and leave it for the next morning. Just have to wear less clothes.

Just a note to say, saw 3 bucks chasing a doe Wed AM, while it was cool. Two were young 6 and 8 points, but the BIG ONE was a 10 or better, really a nice Buck. he was several inches taller than the other two. back and forth across the field . stopping only when the Doe would lay down. watched this action for several minutes. Wed late evening, same two young bucks squared off for a sparring session in the small creek100 yards behind my stand,I tickled the horns and both came right to me ,walked around my ladder stand ,then jumped the creek, stopped and looked in my direction for 2 or 3 min.
Thursday AM. WINDY AND WARM. saw 2 Does.
Looks likeThings are starting to happen.

I went out this morning as well. Deer sightings from the area have been less as the heat goes up. The wind was crazy and causing me fits but stuck it out. Ive been hunting a BIG one on the property and I knew he was in there by all the signs. Huge rubs and his hoof track is as wide as my foot. I havent seen him until this morning. He was the only one I saw but really the only one I wanted to see. Wish I could say I got him but he knows how to use the wind and woods as the wind swirls. He busted me while at 40 yards. To top it off, I pulled a muscle in my back yesterday and setting on stand was painful. The heat sux, the wind sux, and my back hurt... Glad I seen him or it would have been the worst hunting day Ive ever hunted.

I stayed home this evening because of the wind, probably the wrong decision. I noticed the wind had dramatically calmed down toward sunset. According to the weatherman it was supposed to stay windy all night. I decided to get in the truck and take a ride out by the countryside with the wife. We seen around 25 does in some of the fields out there and had a really nice buck run right in front of us. Had to hit the breaks on him. I'll be out there tomorrow regardless of what the weather guessers say.

I was out this evening in the tree I took my doe from. 10 minutes after getting settled in a button buck came right over to me and fed around for about 5 minutes and then just walked away, only one I saw. Back in the morning.

Well it just gets worse and worse for me.
I have one plumber off recovering from sinus surgery and my pump truck driver has been a no call - no show for the last two days.
I couldnt take any extra time off if I wanted to.

Well, despite the warm weather, I climbed into the stand last night at 4:00 directly from work.
The wind had actually settled down a bit, so I hit the "lil' can" a few times and it wasn't 10 minutes after that I sawa "brown body" work up the fence line, as soon as he hopped the fence I could see he had head gear, unfortunately it was a young 5 ptr. His right sight was nice, but his left side main beam shot straight up in the air about 12" with a small kicker/brow tine. He ended up 10' from the stand, and finally moved on.
About a half hour after that had a big doe and two yearlings out in front of me and worked their way in as dusk settled in. Right at last light they worked underneath me. I heard more footsteps in the leaves off to the south, and then a few grunts. Knowing it was a buck I was anxious as last shooting light was quickly approaching. He hopped the fence, slowly worked into view behind the path the does took, but he was a small 4 ptr!
All in all it was a great evening considering the temperature.

Back out this morning. Don't want to complain about the wind but a squirrel stopped on his way down my tree and asked for a dramamine ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) . Saw three does, they came running through about 15 yards behind me like the devil was after them. I got my camera ready but the old horned one never showed. Think I will wait till this wind slows a bit.
