New to the site and wanted to say hello. Never been to Indiana and recently leased a place on the Patoka river in Gibson county. I sort of leased it without looking, and was wondering if it was a good decision or not. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I know locals aren't always interested in out-of-stater's, as I have been down the same road here in Georgia. But while there, I will be as respectful as possible to the people and the land, and hopefully if nothing else, bring a little revenue to the local economy. I'm not a if it's brown it's down, shoot up the local deer population kind of guy. Been hunting deer, hogs, turkey, ducks, and squirrels here for forty years. And while it's been a blast, I want to see what it is like in the midwest. Thanks, Bruce

Welcome!!
We have a few Georgians on here already.
I think that you will find the guys and gals on here very helpful.
Gibson county is not all that far from me and it does produce some pretty good deer.
Princeton is probably the biggest town close to where you are at.
Good luck and post often..

Thanks for the welcome. While looking at some of the photos of fields and woods, Indiana looks like an awesome place.

Welcome to the site Bruce! Where in Georgia are you from? Got a B-I-L that works at the Cat plant outside of Atlanta and have been down to visit a few times. One thing you're going to have to get used up here is that we have HARDWOODS everywhere. If you ever want a place to go up around Purdue let me and maybe we can work out a deal for a hoghunt down there

On a good day you will probably see 100 to 150 a day. And some 250 to 300 pounders are not that uncommon. I have killed some down there with great tusks. But after a while they get annoying when your trying to deer hunt. I stopped deer hunting down there because of it. I can hunt them in the fall and early winter. So if you want to schedule a hunt September and january are my favorite months. They seem to be everywhere, and the big ones come out of the wood work. Can provide you a place to stay and eat for free. Just let me know.

If I could talk my wife into this (which wouldn't be too hard with her brother in Atlanta and our favorite vacation spot over in Beaufort SC) I would much rather try it in Jan. I've done enough hog hunting that I have found out the under 200#'ers are much better eating My offer still stands on hitting some deer on up here in Boilermakerland!!! Get this first deer season over with up here and we'll do some talking. How close to Beaufort/Hardeeville are you? We're usually down in B'fort about mid Oct for a week or two....

I'm about thirty minutes north east of Macon, Georgia. A little town called Milledgeville. Property is about five minutes south out of town on the Oconee river. Just let me know.
