I'm new to running lines this year and I hear about all sorts of different regulations in other states. Are all non-protected fish legal to catch on a trot line? And is there a regulation on how far apart the drop lines should be from each other or the length of each drop line? Also if I put only 47 hooks on my trot line, could I goto a different body of water and fish with three poles for crappie or bluegill? Thanks for your time.

Fishing poles and trot lines and limb lines can all be used at the same time, provided all other regs are followed. There is no regulation on how far apart the drop lines can be on a trot line. 50 hooks is the max on trot lines, with a ONE TROT LINE LIMIT. Once you have a single trot line set, you CANNOT set another, on any other body of water. 10 limb lines is the limit regardless of where you have them. You could have 5 on the Wabash River and only 5 more elsewhere, for a total of 10. All non-protected fish are legal to catch on limb and trot lines.
