I have a friend who is looking at a Ruger P94 in .40 S&W. He asked me about the reliability and price of the gun. It comes with box, manual, extra magazine, and the stock and Hogue grips for "around" $400. He may get as low as $350.
I have never owned the P94, but I have shot one and find it to be fairly accurate and reliable. But, I don't like to make a recommendation on such limited experience.
He is a hunter and very good with a double gun. I've guided him on many upland hunts. However, he has not shot a handgun much. He is tall (about 6' 8") and has huge hands and is very willing to learn and open to suggestions.
Any thoughts?

The only thing I never liked about the Ruger P series pistols is the grips felt too large in my smallish hands. Sounds like that won't be an issue with your friend. I've never heard or read a bad word aboout them.

Rugers are kinda the "tonka toys" of the gun world. Not the most polished, but reliable and almost indestructible.

I am 6' 5" and have large hands and I really enjoyed a P97 (.45) that I once owned. They are a good, reliable series of gun.

I have a P89 and a P94. Like everyone else said they are very reliable. Maybe a bit bulky but I don't think $350 would be too bad of a price but I have had mine several years and have priced them lately.

I talked to my friend today and then congratulated him on the purchase of his "new" P94. He absolutely loves the gun and especially the way it fits his hand. He also said to pass on many thanks to those who gave advice here on this site. He just isn't "into computers" which is why he is not a member here.
So on his behalf...THANKS GUYS!
