The home farm has 100 acres mixed with my hunting partners farm next to mine that is mixed beans and corn only, as well it has 430 acres the remainder there is wooded rolling ravines or creek bottom. Then our north farm is 594 acres. with 350 in corn and beans the rest is oak and hardwoods. The home farm is mostly alfalfa and food plots as we hay it more than crop it since it is rolling hills and wooded. Maybe 20 acres or so corn and food plots the rest is hayed, or pastured and 52 acres wooded creek bottom.
Also the neighbor to the north of my farm is also selective and on board with my hunting partner to the west and myself he has another 50 or so acres .
Also the property to the north west of the farm is owned by a Doctor that allows no hunting and the property to the east is not hunted either. Sweet situation I know, its almost the perfect storm for deer and big deer production. But it was not always this way .Those propertis were way overhunted just 20 years ago until they were bought up.
Hope this helps

So I would guess that my hunting ground and situation was not so different than most on here when I left it alone for the herd growth those 4 years. No need to let it lay Idle now since my deer /land situation got better and hunting partner got the farm next to me but as I stated back then my farm was surrounded by hunter and honestly my farm was over hunted by myself and Friends back then as well. So in fact what I did back then was what I was suggesting to others on here . I just drove around found a bunch of deer and started asking farmers and landowners /locals til I got a new place with deer on it to hunt for a few years.

Sounds like your doing ok, I own 1/2 acre planted in sunflowers, tomato plants and the wifes flowers....lol Seriously though, if your are not banging on door, looking up property owners and basically busting your butt getting permission it's no fun come season. I am fortunate that in the county I live in we have an online map room and I can look up parcels and find the owners to ask. My son and I do alot of driving and if we see a good buck or bucks we make a note and I ask. I have an urban spot where I have seen several large bucks and have asked the owner at least 6 times over the past 6-7 years only to be told no. One of these days I will catch him in a good mood.
