I was notified that I was drawn for JP and I have never hunted like this. Whatever tips you can give me on hunting turkey's with knowing that people are around. I am also new to turkey hunting and I thought that entering this draw would be fun.
Thanks

You can take a non-hunter with you. My advice is to find someone who knows what they are doing that will accompany you to help you out. If I were you, I'd get out there now, scout a coupla areas, not necessarily to look for turkey sign, but to get a look at the lay of the land in those areas. That will help you the most! You can scout while you check the area out. Find the hang-up spots, like creeks, overly-thick vegetation, fences and so on that will cause a bird to hang up. It'll help you get in b/f sunrise and set up in a better location as well!

Thanks for the replies guys. I will check those 2 area's out when I go down there.
I figured that since I won't be there the first day the turkey's will be pretty dispersed, just like deer after the first weekend. So any area would be just a luck shot. Is my thinking right or am I way off? Like I said I don't know much about turkey hunting and any insights will be greatly appreciated.
I did not know that you could also take a non-hunter with you. I doubt that I will, but it would be nice to share the moment with someone if I would actually get a turkey!
