I finally got drawn for Missisinewa April 28th and 29th. First time ever after putting in for as long as they have had the draw. I am a rookie when it comes to this. I have everything I need and been a few times on private land with no success. Since they do not allow buddies any longer, If anyone else got drawn for those same days and is looking for some to hunt with, please get hold of me. I have a couple of ideas on areas but not an expert on the resiovoir as I hunt deer on private land. good luck to everyone on getting drawn. Just got my card today! Goodyz71

Congrats. I grew up just outside of Sweetser and hunted there a couple of years ago. I hunted near the battle field area. Called two right off the roost first morning. They quit gobbling and suddenly appeared about 15 yards to my right but my gun was pointed the wrong direction and I couldn't move. Didn't see another bird the whole hunt. I had people running dogs through my decoys. Kind of frustrating but I guess they allow others on the property during the hunts.

Mississinewa Reservoir Quesstion. Is anyone familiar with the area on the south side of the lake that they call the "rock pile"? I was given some help that it was a good area but I am not sure where to look for it. Any help would be appreicated. Thanks Goodyz71

Goodyz71 Since they do not allow buddies ? I'm almost positive it's a buddy hunt. I got drawn May 10-12 and my girlfriend got May13-14. I'll look at my card again, but thought for sure it was a buddy hunt.

I talked to the DNR and it is not a buddy hunt for sure. I wish it was. You can have someone go with you but they carry a weapon or hunt. I double checked with the Mississinewa biologist and he assured me it was okay to have someone go with you just not hunt. Goodyz71 The only place that you can take a hunting buddy is Big Oaks. All others are single hunters only.

They canned the buddy hunt to allow more drawn hunters. With the old way, 10 draws could be 20 hunters (drawn hunter + buddy). As the drawn hunter, you could take a different buddy with you each day, which in turn could mean as many as 4 turkeys harvested by one draw (drawn hunter + 3 buddys, over 3 days). Now, without the buddy system, they can draw 15 hunters instead of 10+ a buddy, and theorhetically only have 15 harvested birds opposed to up to 40. Better hunter success chances if you ask me. IF you can't hunt without a buddy, I guess you are out of luck. You CAN however, take a NON-HUNTER with you during your hunt to video, call, etc.

Chico,
Salamonie switched to drawn hunter only last year. You can take a buddy with you but all they can do is call. It looks like i didn't get drawn for Salamonie this year. I didn't receive any notice yet. Not sure now where I'll hunt turkeys this year. h.h.

goodyz71,
I helped you a little on that one.
You had the URL of the photos on there fine. After you copy and paste them here you need to HIGHLIGHT the URL and then click on the little picture in the tool bar above the post that says "insert image". That will do it..
