Can't find any birds to train my dog. Is something wrong this year?

I use pigeons.
I catch them at overpasses at night with a flashlight and a fishing net.
You could probably buy some too, for homing pigeon people.

How do you catch them? Seems like nobody sells them lately.

I go to an overpass that has pigeons roosting there. I use a fishing net with a long pole taped to it and a good, 4 cell mag light. Then I walk around under the overpass keeping the pigeons blinded by the light and scoop them up in the net. Young ones are easier... but I like the good strong older birds. Two guys is a lot better than one.
It's pretty fun too.
I keep the pigeons in a cage and feed and water them. Make sure they have grit too. They are easy to keep.
Pigeons are hard to dizzy, but you can do it. I have a bird launcher too.

Thank you for your time to explain it to me. I'll start catching them that way, good way to have birds available anytime.

No prob dude. If you need any more elaboration just ask. We can usually get between 6 and 12 birds on any given outing. We walk on the sloped concrete on either side. There are 4 slopes to "hunt".
Good luck!
