Only hunt when the wind is in your favor. Also hunting from a elevated stand in the evening your scent will tend to travel downwards by thermals causing you scent to travel out farther then in the morning. If you can hunt off the ground and this will help beat the thermal factor also racking back the leaves to bare earth will help cover your scent. also throw a apple in your jacket pocket.

Ikrus, Do you use scent free soap when you wash? Do you use scent free deodarent before you enter the woods? Keeping your clothes is an excellent idea but do you add the scent wafers with them? The best thing that I have found to be most useful is playing the wind. Always keep track of wind direction and you can use this to place stands/blinds in proper areas. Scent free clothing is said to be useful (I have yet to own the products) but there are other ways to trick the nose of the whitetail. I have heard of people using the smoke from a burning leaf pile to use as cover scent on clothing. This is more of a natural smell than human odor. Hopefully some of these ideas will help.

Approach & hunt your hunting spots with the wind & thermals in your favor. Keep in mind that as evening sets in and the air cools down it will affect your scent dispersment in the immediate area. Do a total spray down with scent neutralizer at your vehicle & again when you settle-in to hunt. Pay particular attention to spraying down your hair which holds & emits the daily accumulation of your work odors.

ikrus...................
i can feel your "pain" with the after work hunt situation.............................
alot of times i might 'slip' out of work early to get in a brief evening hunt.
it all starts in the morning with me though.....................
if i even have the slightest "feeling" that i might hunt in the afternoon.......................then i shower with scent free stuff and use the appropriate scent free under arm deodorant.
why ? (and yes i know this is a debateable subject)...................
there isnt time for running home and going thru the hygiene ritual.
i certainly dont want to be on stand smelling of old spice deodorant and other things.................
does it make a difference ? that can be argued either way. no question about it.
*my personal experience is that this has helped me NOT get busted. since becomming more scent conscious i have had increased sightings.................... this is just what has worked for me................so take it for what its worth ?
