I only have ever hunted public land for doves. It's always hit or miss. Last few years it's been more miss. Fields just haven't been good.

I used to hunt the F&W areas, but with the lead-free requirement on the books, we don't go there anymore. With three shooters to supply, it's too expensive. Too bad too, because that was the last game on the wing available to hunt in Indiana that didn't cost an arm and a leg to hunt. My grandkids won't get the chance to enjoy wingshooting in this state.

FWA can be good depending on the crop success for that unit. Even private spots are hit and miss year to year. I had a pasture where I goose hunted that was chocked full of doves for 2 years then the next 3 it was a bust.
Pastures next to corn fields, creek, and sandbars have been good. Good luck.

I have a farmer leave some wheat every year. It is some of the best hunting you could want. About a week before season I will go bushhog some of it to spread the seeds. Several of us always tag out about everytime we go.
