I`m new to this site, so please forgive me in advance if I`m covering ground you all have already covered. I was wondering if anyone has tried the new Winchester Xtended Range Hi-Density Turkey Loads. I guess you could say they`re the Winchester Hevi-Shot knockoff, but wow. Not only do you not need a specially rated choke like with Hevi-Shot, but my experience with them has been fantastic. My buddy and I patterned our turkey guns with them last spring, and it was unbelievable. We were shooting the Shoot-N-See turkey head/neck targets, and at 20 yards, we were absolutely obliterating the target. I only shot back as far as 40 yards, but was still putting 39 pellets in the kill zone. My buddy and I hunted at Royal Flush Enterprises in Parke County, Indiana. We scored on a double, killing our birds from about 25 yards away, and the guide said he’d never seen a turkey fall and not even flap a wing. I was shooting the 3”, 6-shot round, mainly because that`s all that was left on the shelf by the time I heard about them last spring. I didn`t even use my Comp-N-Choke. I shot the X-Full turkey choke that came with my Browning BPS. Awesome load in case anyone hasn’t tried it.

I just tried the Xtended 3.5 #6's in my SBE. They shot good, but no better than Hevi Shot #6. Neither are cheap but the Remingtn Hevi Shot were about $10 / box cheaper

I`ve always liked Winchester ammo, never cared for Remington ammo. But the Winchester turkey loads don`t require a specially rated choke like the Remington does.
