For deer hunting in the past, I used an Uncle Mike's when carrying my Ruger SS Redhawk, .44 mag with 9.5" brl. I always found it bulky and uncomfortable but some of that was simply the size and weight of the gun. For the last few years, I have carried my Ruger GP100, .357, 4" brl with a leather Bianchi holster which I don't like much. I am looking for recommendations... What holster do you like/use for deer hunting? How do you carry your handgun if you don't usa a holster?

Quiethide for the Encores. Accumold for the wheel gun.

Uncle Mikes for the Contender. But I want a Quiethide.
I'd give you a link but the site seems to be down. I haven't talked to Dave in a long time, I assume he's still making holsters but probably on a part-time basis...

Never thought of using a holster for deer. Usually just drag 'em out.
(Sorry, couldn't help myself.)

Bandolier type from Cabela's. I take it off and hang it on a hook while in the stand.
